Recently, after Israel and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement on June 24, Iran's major methanol producers Zagros Petrochemical Company (ZPC) and Sabalan Petrochemical Company (SPC) restarted several methanol plants located in the Asaluye chemical hub.

Due to the Iran-Israeli conflict, ZPC's two methanol plants and SPC's methanol plant were forced to stop production from June 14 to 15. ZPC restarted its first methanol plant of 1.65 million t/a on June 28 and its second methanol plant of the same capacity on July 1, according to company sources. At present, the operating load rate of the first methanol plant is 90%, while the load rate of the second methanol plant is 60%. At the same time, according to sources, SPC also restarted its 1.65 million t/a methanol plant on June 29, and the current operating load rate is 80%.

Sources said that Iran's Kaveh Methanol Company (KMC) earlier restarted its 2.3 million tons/year methanol plant near Bandar Dayyer in Iran's Bushehr province on June 24, and KMC restored the load rate of the plant to 80% normal operation level on June 25. Other Iranian plants that shut down in mid-June include the methanol units of the Marjan Petrochemical Company and the Bushehr Petrochemical Company, both located in Asaluyah, both of which were shut down on 15 June due to safety concerns. The methanol production capacity of these plants is 1.65 million tons/year.
